Google Meet Expands Meeting Moderation with Co-Host Feature
Google Meet has introduced significant enhancements to its meeting moderation controls, addressing several highly-requested features from users.
Increased Co-Host Capacity
In a recent update, Google announced the expansion of meeting moderation capabilities in Google Meet, allowing users to assign up to 25 co-hosts per meeting. This empowers co-hosts to access and utilize host controls, enhancing collaboration and management during meetings.
Quick Access Setting
Google has introduced the “Quick access” setting, enabling hosts to easily manage permission requests for joining meetings. This feature streamlines the process, providing greater control over meeting access and security.
Accessibility for All Users
Previously limited to Google Workspace for Education customers, these safety features are now available to all Google Meet users, both on desktop and mobile platforms. This expansion ensures broader access to essential meeting moderation tools.
Delegated Responsibilities
Delegated co-hosts now have the ability to perform various meeting management tasks, including muting participants, launching polls, and managing Q&A sessions. This delegation of responsibilities allows hosts to focus on leading discussions and guiding attendees through presentations more effectively.
Enhanced Host Controls
Google Meet now offers enhanced host controls, including the ability to limit screen sharing, control chat message permissions, mute all participants with a single click, and end meetings for all attendees. These features provide hosts with greater flexibility and control over meeting dynamics.
Sharing Hosting Privileges
For applicable Google Workspace editions, meeting hosts can share hosting privileges with up to 25 participants per meeting by granting them host controls through the People panel. This feature facilitates collaborative meeting management among multiple participants.
Automatic Joining with Quick Access
The quick access control, enabled by default, allows meeting participants from the host’s domain to join meetings seamlessly from mobile or desktop devices, as well as via dial-in options. This enhances accessibility and convenience for participants.
Admin Control
In the coming weeks, Google plans to introduce a setting for administrators to control whether Host Management settings are enabled or disabled by default. This administrative control further enhances customization and management of meeting settings.
These updates reflect Google’s commitment to improving user experience and meeting functionality in Google Meet, empowering users with enhanced moderation controls and accessibility features. With expanded co-host capabilities and streamlined management tools, Google Meet continues to evolve as a versatile platform for productive and collaborative meetings.
