Facebook Introduces ‘Soundmojis’ on Messenger App

In anticipation of World Emoji Day on July 17th, Facebook unveiled a new feature called “Soundmojis” on Friday, available on its Messenger app. Soundmojis bring an interactive element to emojis by incorporating sound clips into messaging conversations.

Enhancing Emoji Communication

Facebook’s Soundmojis represent a fusion of emojis and audio clips, offering users a creative way to convey emotions and reactions in their chats. These sound-enhanced emojis include a variety of familiar sounds, such as applause, crickets, drumrolls, evil laughter, and more.

Loredana Crisan, Vice President of Messaging Products at Messenger, highlighted the significance of emojis in modern communication, emphasizing their ability to add vibrancy and depth to conversations.

Introducing Soundmojis

With the introduction of Soundmojis, users can now infuse their messages with auditory expressions. By accessing the expressions menu within the Messenger app and selecting the loudspeaker icon, users can explore the Soundmoji library and choose from a range of sound effects and iconic audio bites.

A Growing Sound Library

Facebook has curated an extensive Soundmoji library that will be regularly updated with new additions, ensuring a diverse selection of sound options for users to incorporate into their chats. Each sound is associated with a corresponding emoji, preserving the visual appeal of traditional emojis while introducing an auditory dimension.
