Revitalizing Spaces: DressingForFun Renewal

The DressingForFun Renewal project by NTYPE marks a second opportunity to reimagine a familiar space after five years. Tasked with providing a fresh look and new experiences for both local residents and store customers, the challenge was to infuse the busy city center of a Chinese metropolis with a sense of tranquility inspired by nature.

Integration of Nature

Drawing inspiration from living experiences close to nature, the design incorporates green plants into both the façade and interior space. The aim is to create a peaceful atmosphere amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life, offering visitors a refreshing respite.

Spatial Organization

Navigating through the 19-meter-deep L-shaped space defined by rigid column grids presented a design challenge. Organic volumes guide visitors through the store, dynamically shaping the spatial experience. Varied scales and carefully positioned openings create moments of intrigue, adding depth and complexity to the space.

Unexpected Moments

Carefully curated views, such as an oval-shaped opening overlooking greenery in the backyard from the bathroom, enhance the sensory experience. Customized design elements, like a sink that directs water to a planter, merge functionality with aesthetics, elevating everyday activities.

Multi-functional Façade

Acknowledging the presence of styphnolobium japonicum trees lining the street and the addition of a café program, the façade serves multiple purposes. Urban furniture seamlessly integrates seating, coffee tables, and lounge areas with planters, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Organic Engagement

By embracing nature and incorporating elements of surprise and functionality, DressingForFun Renewal transcends its role as a retail space. It becomes an organic entity that fosters connection, creativity, and a harmonious coexistence with its urban surroundings.
