Lapinha Studio: A Modular Retreat by plano livre

The architectural concept behind Estúdio Lapinha unfolds in two distinct stages. Initially showcased as a modular housing exhibit within two shipping containers at CASACOR Minas 2021, the second phase involves its disassembly and reassembly in Lapinha da Serra, where it will function as accommodation.

Modular Construction

The construction process drove the design, with two container modules seamlessly attached side by side, their industrialized components deliberately exposed. Hydraulic systems are centralized within one wall, forming the infrastructural core. This approach not only reduces costs but also liberates the remaining space, creating a flexible, open-plan module in the other container, which, in its debut, showcases Estúdio Lapinha’s bespoke furniture.

Flexible Interior

Internally, floor and ceiling profiles unify the container junction, facilitating disassembly for transportation. Distinct materials and colors delineate the flexible living areas from the infrastructural core. The former, adorned in green hues, houses the double bed and naval plywood joinery, while the latter, featuring earthy orange tones in the kitchen and blue accents in the ensuite, integrates partition walls to optimize spatial utilization. The shower stall, connected to an external deck via a glass door, offers guests a unique bathing experience with a view.

Embracing Nature

Designed for contemplation, Lapinha Studio blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors through expansive glass doors, inviting nature to permeate the refuge. The color palette harmonizes with the surrounding landscape, further enhancing the immersive experience.

Prototype for Adaptability

Beyond its physical presence, the project embodies a systemic approach, serving as a prototype that can be expanded, replicated, and adapted to various contexts. By experimenting with different container arrangements, Estúdio Lapinha offers diverse spatial configurations, catering to a myriad of experiences.
