La Marina House: A Concrete Haven on the Buenos Aires Coast

Nestled within the coastal charm of Costa Esmeralda, Casa La Marina stands as a testament to architectural ingenuity and natural beauty. Designed by Besonias Almeida Arquitectos, this stunning residence is a sanctuary of modernity amidst the dunes, just a stone’s throw away from Buenos Aires.

Embracing the Landscape

Perched atop an irregularly shaped plot, Casa La Marina effortlessly blends with its surroundings. Elevated between 1.5m and 2m above neighboring lots, the house boasts unparalleled privacy while offering panoramic views of the adjacent forest and urban skyline. This strategic elevation ensures a seamless integration with the natural terrain, minimizing the need for additional interventions.

A Tribute to Concrete

At the heart of Casa La Marina lies a commitment to exposed concrete, both in structure and furnishings. Inspired by the noble qualities of this material, the clients envisioned a home characterized by its monolithic presence. From walls to furniture, concrete reigns supreme, ensuring durability and minimal maintenance—a testament to the enduring appeal of this timeless material.

Versatile Living Spaces

Designed to accommodate a family of four and their guests, Casa La Marina strikes a delicate balance between intimacy and conviviality. With accommodations for up to 12 people, including service staff, the residence is equipped for hosting gatherings and retreats throughout the year. Thoughtfully curated spaces, including semi-covered outdoor areas and ample parking, cater to the diverse needs of modern living.

Architectural Innovation

To navigate the elevation difference between the plot and its surroundings, the architects devised a clever solution: dividing the house into two rectangular prisms connected by gentle sloping stairs. One prism, elevated above street level, houses private quarters, while the other, nestled within the natural terrain, serves as the focal point for social activities. The juxtaposition of suspended and grounded volumes creates a dynamic interplay of space and light, inviting residents to engage with their environment.

A Harmonious Retreat

Casa La Marina is more than just a residence—it’s a harmonious retreat where architecture and nature converge. From its exposed concrete façade to its sweeping vistas of the Buenos Aires coast, every aspect of this home is a celebration of craftsmanship and design. As residents immerse themselves in its tranquil embrace, they are reminded of the profound connection between architecture and the human experience.
