K.house: A Blend of Tradition and Modernity

K.house stands as a testament to blending tradition with modernity in the heart of Phan Thiet city. Constructed by KCONCEPT and KOHARCHITECTS, this garden house encapsulates the essence of familial memories, lifestyle, and habits cultivated over three decades.

Embracing Tradition

The design journey of K.house commenced three years ago with a vision to craft a new space while safeguarding the essence of the old homestead. The architects aimed to imbue the space with a Tropical Modern aesthetic, all while ensuring the preservation of cherished elements like the quaint path leading to the house and the sanctity of spaces such as the altar room and the mother’s bedroom.

Spatial Optimization and Preservation

Central to the design philosophy was the optimization of the available garden areas while maintaining the integrity of historical values. The layout facilitates a seamless blend of old and new, where familiar pathways and cherished spaces coexist harmoniously with contemporary elements. By retaining the original layout and design, K.house fosters a sense of continuity in familial activities.

Versatile Living Spaces

The house is vertically divided to cater to both familial activities and potential accommodation services. This division allows for the separation of spaces, enabling multi-generational households to coexist comfortably. Flexibility is key, with the ability to open and close spaces as needed, ensuring functionality without compromising privacy.

Design Elements

The backbone of K.house is formed by two parallel corridors, connecting the front and back gardens seamlessly. These corridors offer an immersive experience, allowing inhabitants to be enveloped by the sights and sounds of nature. Drawing inspiration from the architectural vernacular of Mui Ne, elements such as exposed iron trusses and natural materials like Thanh Hoa yellow and black tangled stone are incorporated. The interior is adorned with simple yet elegant furnishings, blending wood with leather and rattan lanterns to evoke a tropical ambiance.

K.house is not merely a physical structure but a testament to the enduring bond between tradition and modernity. It stands as a homage to the past while embracing the possibilities of the future, a sanctuary where memories are cherished and new experiences are forged.
